2 Peter 1:19
We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
It is often suggested by media gurus today, in this time of non-absolutes, that all “holy books” are pretty much the same. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Only the Bible contains masses of prophetic truth. I have recently been studying once again Daniel’s encounter with the angel Gabriel in which was given the Seventy Weeks prophecy. You can read it for yourself in Daniel 9. The narrative occurred during the Jewish exile in Babylon (current-day Iraq). In that stunningly remarkable prophecy, it was revealed by God that from the date of Persian King Artaxerxes’ decree to his Jewish cupbearer Nehemiah to rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem to the date when Jesus would enter Jerusalem in triumph, 483 years, each year containing 360 days, would pass exactly. From history (for the facts) with concurrence from the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, England (for the timing), we know that Daniel was accurate to the very day.
In the Old Testament alone there are several hundred detailed prophecies of Jesus’ coming birth in Bethlehem, all of which happened precisely as Scripture stated. Someone fed all this information into a computer to find out the odds of each facet of prophecy actually occurring. The odds were 1 in 93, comma, followed by 87 zeroes. With due respect to all other belief systems, none of their holy books has that supernatural aspect. They are simply – books. The Bible, on the other hand, is the total revealed mind of God to mankind. It is supernatural! The more you study the Bible, the stronger will be your faith. Faith comes by hearing. Hearing what? The Word of God! Spend some time studying your Bible today. Your faith will be elevated to new heights as you ask God to make very clear His message for you.
Prayer: O God, I thank You for the written Word. It truly is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my pathway. As I read scriptures today, may their divine and eternal meaning become very clear to me, and then, by Your life within me, let me so live today that I truly please You. Amen.
